About US
Stockton Parent Carer Forum
SPCF is made up of parents and carers of children and young people with SEND aged 0-25 years living in Stockton on Tees. We volunteer our time to work alongside strategic bodies, service providers and commissioners to ensure that the needs of children, young people with SEND and their families are being met
Participation
As a forum, we promote the participation of parents and carers in the planning, development, monitoring, range and accessibility of services. There are varying methods of participation, none of which is more important than the other, and we understand the limitations of parents availability, comfort and confidence in participating at those different methods.
INFORMATION
This is where you are informed of any decision making, systems and processes and are aware of what is happening. A good example would be the information that is available on the local offer.
CONSULTATION
The larger population are asked for their views and opinions on specific issues. A good example of this would be surveys that we ask you to participate in or when you tell professionals about your experiences at our listening events
ENGAGEMENT
A smaller group of people come together to represent their stakeholders and they work with decision makers and service providers to present views and ideas of how they think something should or may work. A good example of this would be at our focus groups, where a smaller group of people may come and provide suggestions of how things could be improved.
CO-PRODUCTION
There is an equal part for stakeholders in the decision making process. The design, procedures, systems and policy surrounding the topic is made with the agreement of representatives of stakeholders. A good example of this would be the design of a pathway where multiple agencies came and made decisions together to benefit all.
None of this is possible without the parents and carers that volunteer their time to participate. From providing a comment on facebook, to filling out a survey or coming to share an experience at a listening event and those that attend meetings. All of whom play a role in trying to get the best services for children and young people with SEND in Stockton On Tees.
